About Me

'Breathing is the first act of life and the last. Our very life depends on it.'

                                     Joseph Pilates

I started practising Pilates some 10 years ago, when I found that as my body was ageing, I was increasingly suffering injuries- both in my hobby Contemporary dance, and also from my long term profession as a dentist.

Pilates classes helped me to understand my body- how I moved, bad postural habits developed over a lifetime. The strength, flexibility and body alignment that I gained, enabled me to prevent injury when dancing, and to counteract the pain and stiffness in my spine and shoulders that practising dentistry had imposed upon me.

The benefit that I gained from practising Pilates led me to the decision that I wanted to help others as I had been helped, and so I trained to be a Pilates teacher with APPI in 2021.

APPI is a worldwide recognised method of Pilates designed by physiotherapists to deliver a safe  and effective Pilates Programme for people of all levels of health and fitness. I have also practised  with an experienced Fletcher Pilates teacher. Fletcher Pilates is a more dance/choreographic method of Pilates which I find, as a keen dancer, fun to do.I like to combine exercises from both methods of Pilates in my lessons to provide a safe, effective but fun class.
